My guild, while in FOW, because none of us had a clue:
"Hey, what's a Wailing Lord?"
"It's red."
"Kill it!"
" ... hey, why's it not attacking us back?"
The beating continues.
The Wailing Lord drops dead. So does the entire party.
THEN we go back and check our quest log and note the big huge warning in red letters: "DO NOT HARM THE WAILING LORDS."
D'oh!

Suddenly, you arrive at two sellables and your 1337 max weapon. You are starting to lag and think perhaps the game didn't record your intent to delete so you click the button three times. Or maybe you made a mistake. Next thing you know is you see 1 pop away, two pop away and then ...NOOOOOOOOOOOO three pop away. OMG
Remember, be gentle when at Merchant or you will loose your stuff.

This is the single most valuable use of preorder items. I use one in each of my characters as a "marker/barrier" since you can't sell them to a merchant. Everything I really want to keep is further down in my bags than the preorder marker.
Of course, I started doing this because I once sold a new kit (forget which type) back to the merchant...
Oh, I made the "delete your PvP mule character" mistake. Lost a huge stash of collector items. Not so bad, except I think I had a couple of bleached shells.

Just recently, I decided that I wanted my PvE healer back, and I figured out how to make it still work just the same for PvP. Next time I log on, there's a little message that says "The new classes will be available for PvP use from the 20th til the 22nd".
I found a sudden and unreasonable hatred for A.Net. Wost timing ever >:(

Actually hit Post Reply to this topic...lol...
[edit]
So this isn't spam;
Made a PvP Character temporarily, put my Galigord's Stone Staff on it, deleted it later by accident forgetting it had it on.

was going through orozar farming run when i got an gold armor which turned out to be sup healing rune. I was low on golds at the time (got like 1k) thinking that i can make some profits out of this run (zero greens but bunch of gold items). I head back to town.... (i'm dead tired so yeah...) buy myself a salvage kit *note salvage kit.. not expert* and id the armor. And i got .... 4 woods from that armor. I looked at my savlage kit thinking "hmmm expert salvage never do that.." than behold its a regular salvage kit.
There goes 10k for me.

Months ago, when I first started the game, I took my PvE character to a CA arena. Before entering I changed some skills around and (I thought) the weapon.
Turns out, I entered the arena with no weapon at all equipped. I remember standing on a bridge believing that I was fighting and not being able to understand why nothing was happening.

Entering the Academy at the end of pre-searing and spending 10 mins trying to talk to my team before realising they were all henchies..
I didn't find Sardelac Sanitarium until after I had completed the game! (i wanted a dunce hat for my character to wear after that)
Also spent an hour and a half clearing snake dance trying to find a boss to cap an elite skill from, found him, killed him, realised I had forgot to equip the cap skill signet. noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

I have done a bit of what others have.
I dyed my starter ele robe silver (which looked cool) and wore my starter armor to piken square. I didn't know there was collector armor.
I didn't realise when you died in Post Searing, you got DP and I couldn't figure out why my health was going down.
I didn't realise exp , gold and drops were shared to henchies. Here I was lv8 and getting no drops, little gold and little exp for the longest time.
Thought someone selling black dye for 1k each (back in the day) was a scam when the merchant was buying them for 1g Thinking on it now I should have bought all the black dye he had.
Spending money on expert kits to salvage runes only to get 25g for the runes (used to be more before they changed it) and not realising the identified unsalvaged item sold for more.
Got my first scam from a necro claiming she could run us to droknar. I don't feel to stupid though... she fooled 4 others
Got "trapped" by Gwen and henchies before and had to start mission over.
Sold all my ice lodestones, unnatural seed (or what they are called) mergoyal skulls and spider legs I had collected to a merchant before seeing someone WTB (listed everything I had just sold for more they I got)
Salvaged a gold drop instead of identifying it... why I leave those two kits side by side is beyond me... got 2 steel ingots though lol.
bought 2 15k gloves for my Ele... thinking I had bought only one but couldn't figure out where my 30k went.

Oh man..too numerous to mention!
1. Getting black dye in pre and promptly putting it on pre armor only to get a blue dye about 5 minutes later and redying my armor over the black 'just to see how it looked'
2. Selling the weapons I was using at the time (no joke!). I didn't realize that the ones you did not have equipped but in your weapon sets were still in your inventory and so I got 'click happy' selling stuff to the merchant. I looked down..weapons...poof.Gah!
3. One of my first characters was a wammo. Well, it was great; I was officially known as the 'lost chick with the hammer'. I had no clue how to 'target next' and so when someone would say 'attack monk first', I'd sit there running my mouse over every monster trying to snag the 'monk'. The battle raged on and I stood there looking like an idiot or running around helplessly trying to find the 'monk'.
4. Ah yes, the elusive circle around me on the map. What was that? oooohh aggro circle; how about that!
5. Trying to make minions or soul feast from the 'big rocky things' aka stone elementals and dying in the process.
6. Underestimating the power of a mesmer. They rock; hands down!
7. Being one of the most vocal 'monk bashers' around. I died; stupid monk..must have been THEIR fault! Mine?! What do you mean?!!! Nooooooo; I am the godly 'insert profession', you are just a monk who can't heal!! And then..I made a monk.......'nuff said.
I'm sure the list could go on and on; but these are some of my most memorable. Cheers!
Edit: just thought of another real biggie.
Got to post; hurriedly equipped my dear little necro with all the superior runes I could find..except for super vigor because it was way too expensive. Took me awhile to realize I only had 80 health..hmmmm.

1.) First time I did FoW, I let a Shard sit for too long not realizing it's value, letting some monk pick it up.
2.) Bought a plain vanilla Eternal Shield (Armor 16, but no mods) for 12k cause I thought it looked cool.
3.) Selling dyes in Pre to the merchant for 1g ea.
